Guess what they don’t do? Six-week shreds. Juice cleanses. Fad or crash diets. Motivation doesn’t even make the list because they have built lifestyle habits that come as standard.
So what do they do?
- They strength train at least twice a week.
Strength training isn’t optional. Building and preserving muscle is a priority. - They don’t wing it.
They follow a structured programme built around progressive overload. They know what they’re training that day and why they’re doing it. - They treat recovery as part of the plan.
However much they like to train, they know more isn’t always better. Rest and recovery are where the body adapts to the work they’ve put in. - They fuel – they don’t just ‘eat healthy’.
There’s a difference. They eat to support their training and prioritise protein at every meal. - They eat the same meals on rotation.
Not every meal, every day – but they have reliable staples they come back to each week. It keeps nutrition simple, they know the macros and it’s easy to plan. - They walk every day.
Often 10,000+ steps. They understand that what they do outside the gym matters too. - They safeguard their sleep.
They prioritise it and, wherever possible, keep a consistent sleep and wake cycle. Because you can’t train well if you don’t recover well. - They limit alcohol – or don’t drink at all.
They understand the impact alcohol can have on sleep, recovery and performance. - They win the morning.
They wake up early, hydrate, move and have morning routines that set them up for the day. - They follow the 80/20 rule.
They make room for celebrations and special occasions. Although, in reality, for many of them it’s probably closer to 90/10.
Sounds boring? Maybe. But here’s the thing: being strong, fit and energised is earned, not given – and that becomes increasingly important as we get older.
The people who stay fit for years aren’t constantly starting again on Monday. They don’t need a new diet every January. They aren’t relying on motivation to get them through the door. They’ve simply built a lifestyle that supports the person they want to be.
At LOKfit, that’s exactly what we’re trying to help our Members create. A strong body, good habits and a way of living that you can actually maintain.
Because the goal is to be strong for life.
