Ros is 61 and full of life – but when she first came to LOKfit, she wasn’t feeling like herself.
She felt flat. Low on energy. Her knees were constantly sore, and the spark she’d always had just didn’t feel as present anymore. She knew she wanted to feel stronger and more capable, but she wasn’t sure where to start, or whether training would even be possible with ongoing knee pain.
The Challenge
Ros was living with osteoarthritis in both knees and had been told that steroid injections or even a knee replacement might be her next step.
Naturally, this made her hesitant.
Exercises like squats and lunges felt intimidating, and the idea of joining a gym environment raised questions. Would it make things worse? Would she be able to keep up? Would her knees tolerate strength training at all?
Physically, she was managing but mentally and emotionally, something was missing. Her energy, motivation, and usual zest for life weren’t where she wanted them to be.
Why She Nearly Didn’t Start
Like many women we meet, Ros wasn’t lacking motivation – she was lacking confidence.
She worried about aggravating her knees and wasn’t sure whether structured training would be safe for her. The fear of doing the wrong thing nearly stopped her from starting altogether.
The Turning Point
Ros’s first session at LOKfit changed everything.
She told us that from the moment she walked in, she felt supported. The coaching, the environment, and the pace of the session helped her relax. She wasn’t rushed. She wasn’t pushed beyond her limits. She was guided.
That first experience helped her settle her nerves and, more importantly, helped her realise that strength training could work with her body, not against it.
With personalised guidance and the support of the LOKfit community, Ros quickly found her rhythm and with it, a renewed sense of confidence and enjoyment in training.
The Results
Within just a few months, Ros noticed meaningful changes:
- Increased strength throughout her entire body
- Improved sleep and noticeably higher daily energy
- Significant reductions in knee pain
- The ability to walk up and down stairs with little to no discomfort
In her words:
“My knees are so much better and I can walk upstairs and down with almost no pain. It’s a revelation. I sleep better and have more energy.”
